Inscryption is a video game that conceals a disturbing plot disguised as an enigmatic card game. The story reveals unusual details, unraveling something much larger than a fun, quirky video game. Even so, despite being a mere guise, the card game element of Inscryption is its most entertaining feature. Players can contribute hours collecting powerful cards and developing a formidable deck of their design. However, regardless of the deck players make, one card always proves beneficial — the Ouroboros.

The Ouroboros is a deceptively unimpressive card initially, boasting one power and health, bearing a Many Lives Sigil, and costing two blood sacrifices. Yet, it also possesses a hidden ability that increases its stats upon death, which remains indefinitely. The Ouroboros' unique skill is one that players can exploit to give it unparalleled power and health. Thus, making fights and the acquirement of currency a cakewalk. As it is such an advantageous card, players should know how to acquire the Ouroboros.

Act I

Inscryption Act 1 Ouroboros

Acquiring the Ouroboros is remarkably simple in Act I of Inscryption. Doing so is possible through two methods: receiving it as a reward for winning boss fights or trading a Golden Pelt with the Trader. Either way proves easy but does not guarantee the Ouroboros as it appears by random chance.

Should players wish to acquire the Ouroboros as a reward for winning a boss fight, they must boast a formidable deck. Bosses are challenging adversaries who utilize unique and troublesome strategies. So, having a deck of equal if not greater power is key to victory. Should players manage to defeat a boss, Leshy will offer them a selection of rare cards and allow them to choose their reward. If players are fortunate enough to be offered the Ouroboros, they must take it as it appears this way only once every playthrough.

If players decide on acquiring the Ouroboros by trading Golden Pelts, they will need to take advantage of the Trapper and the Trader. These two characters appear randomly, so players will need to seek them out whenever they reveal themselves on the map. Moreover, players must collect their fair share of Teeth to purchase pelts, which is possible by dealing excess damage to opponents. Frequently visiting the Trapper and the Trader will increase a player's chances of acquiring the Ouroboros from trading Golden Pelts.

Act II

Inscryption Act 2 Ouroboros

Getting the Ouroboros in Act II of Inscryption is far easier than in Act I. To acquire this outstanding card, players need to visit Leshy's Cabin and talk to the Trader. He will have the Ouroboros in his inventory which players can purchase for a measly sum of eight Foil. Acquiring Foil is possible through the same method as getting Teeth, dealing excess damage to opponents. With only a few fights, players can accumulate the amount of Foil needed to get the Ouroboros relatively early on.

Act III

Inscryption Act 3 Ourobot

Obtaining the Ouroboros — now cleverly named the Ourobot — in Act III of Inscryption is not easy for the unknowing player. Doing so demands solving the mystery of the Cuckoo Clock that manifested itself in P03's world. This puzzle requires players to explore Botopia and discover a clue hidden in the southwest portion of the map — exactly, in a secluded and unassuming shop.

In southwest Botopia, players can find a small shop section near the Uberbot room. This market will sell typical items found in Act III except for an unusual object unseen before. Should players purchase it, red splotches will appear along with "4:00" in big crimson text. Players may not realize it at first, but this is the time they need to set on the Cuckoo Clock. Doing so will open the bottom doors where the Ourobot lies within. Players do not need to uncover this secret time to solve the puzzle, allowing them to obtain this card much sooner than expected.

Kaycee's Mod

Inscryption Kaycee's Mod Ouroboros

Getting the Ouroboros in Kaycee's Mod is the same as Act I. However, its stats will reset, starting the card off with one power and health on each run. This new mechanic makes the Ouroboros worth acquiring early on, but not so much at the later stages when players have little time to buff it. On the other hand, obtaining this rare card is much easier in Kaycee's Mod due to the game mode presenting more opportunities.
