Players who don't understand how to get more living ink in Inkulinati will find that they probably dislike the game strongly. Often, generating energy or mana in other games is automatic or at least very easy to earn. In this game, gamers will need to intentionally go out of their way to make sure they get a good amount of living ink.
The beasts in Inkulinati cost living ink to draw; more living ink means more powerful and plentiful creatures. Experts who have taken on the game's toughest challenges make living ink a priority in every fight, allowing them to be on the endless offensive.
End Turns Standing On Inkblots
The most common way of gaining ink is to end a turn with a friendly beast or the Tiny Inkulinati standing on an inkblot. These blots vary in size, representing the number of turns they will generate ink for. For each inkblot with an ally on it, the player will gain three ink at the end of the chapter.
Use this to the player's advantage in duels. Gamers cut off from this resource will be very limited in what they can do and unable to throw down new beasts. In the campaign, players will often need to use quills from losing battles if they can't control these areas.
Destroy Ink Wagons
Ink wagons have low health and most beasts should be able to take one out in a single strike. Doing so gives the player three more rounds of living ink to use for the fight.
By playing a cheap unit (with minimal boredom stacks), placing it on an inkblot, and having it attack a wagon, the beast can often pay for itself and then some. Keep in mind that pushing an ink wagon off the edge does not grant the ink, it must be destroyed with damage.
Choose Living Ink Rewards
Outside of combat, it's possible to get more living ink at the start of each fight by selecting these rewards from a vendor or in a role-playing scenario. Anything that shows a picture of an inkwell with a positive number next to it indicates that the reward provides extra starting ink.
Players who do this must often do so at the cost of farming up prestige. Prestige runs should be treated differently than successful runs, so make a goal for the new journey and stick to the plan.
Look For Helpful Talents
With a variety of powerful talents, players should heavily consider any that generate more living ink. For example, the Mourning Business talent gives players three living ink charges for every friendly creature that dies. This greatly minimizes the potential loss and helps create a nice rotation of cheaper creatures making way for more expensive ones.
