Earlier today, Xbox fans were delighted to see that Injustice: Gods Among Us was available to download for free from the Xbox Live Marketplace. However, the game is now also available for free on the PlayStation Store, as well as Steam.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is a fighting game based in the DC comic book universe developed by NetherRealm Studios. The game was a hit, not only with fighting game players but with casual comic book fans as well. Ed Boon, one of the creators of both Injustice and Mortal Kombat, has even stated that he thought the story of Injustice would make a good movie.

Now players have the opportunity to live out the over-the-top story of the first Injustice game once again. From now until June 25, the Ultimate Edition of the game is available for free on PS4 and Steam players. And while there never was a port of the game made available on Xbox One, the base game is available for free for Xbox players through backward compatibility. It seems that Switch players wanting to play Injustice are out of luck, unfortunately.

There have been rumors that Warner Bros. Interactive may soon go up for sale, with major publishers supposedly expressing interest. These rumors began in part due to a recent report from CNBC where it had stated that AT&T was looking to sell the gaming division for an estimated $4 billion. While the deal wouldn't directly include any of Warner Bros. IP, it may include a licensing agreement for whichever publisher buys it, which would include things like the rumored Harry Potter RPG.

In regards to Injustice, however, there are some strange details about this deal. While Steam and PlayStation players will receive the Ultimate Edition of the game, Xbox players will only be given the base edition of the game. The Ultimate Edition gives players access to all of the downloadable content, including characters that were added post-release. The most that Xbox players can look forward to are a handful of free skins to supplement their new game. Hopefully, players will be happy with just receiving a free game, and will wait patiently for Injustice 3 to be announced.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, and Wii U.
