Developer NeatherRealm has yet to announce what the studio will be working on next following the recent launch of Mortal Kombat 11's final DLC. Though recent job listing's have hinted that the studio is ramping up on its next project, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, with Creative Director Ed Boon remaining silent, focusing on smaller updates to Mortal Kombat 11.

Since Mortal Kombat 9, NetherRealm Studios has alternated development of the Mortal Kombat games and Injustice series. Both franchises typically began with a tie-in comic framing the story of each game and Tom Taylor has been involved with the Injustice comic series since its inception back in 2013. If a new game was indeed in development, the announcement of a comic series would be expected shortly.

DC FanDome, a DC focused online convention, is rumored to finally be the place where the next entries in Batman games from both developers Rocksteady and WB Games Montreal will be revealed. With the event taking place in August it's possible that more Injustice news, be it comic or game related, could be possibly unveiled at the same event.

Meanwhile Ed Boon has been adding his two cents on the recent DCEU news ramp up. Commenting on Twitter about his interaction with Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder, Boon declared that the Injustice story line would make for a great blockbuster film in the wake of the decisive reception to 2017's Justice League.

WB Games, the publisher behind both NetherRealm Studios and Rocksteady has also been in the news lately with news of the company being up for sale and other publishers showing interest, including Microsoft. Though nothing has been finalized the future of Mortal Kombat and Injustice can look very different in the wake of new consoles being released.

Injustice 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
