Rumors of Injustice 3 have been circulating since comic book writer Tom Taylor teased a new Injustice project two weeks ago. Now, it seems like Taylor was originally teasing the announcement of Injustice: Year Zero, a digital-first comic book series serving as a prequel to both the first Injustice: Gods Among Us video game and the Injustice comic book series.

Rumors have continued to circulate, nonetheless, since DC Fandome confirmed that Mortal Kombat and Injustice creative director Ed Boon would be attending a panel, likely tying in with other projects to be announced from WB Games. Now it seems that Nikokai "BossLogic" Baslajik, an artist who has previously collaborated with the likes of Ubisoft, is teasing the announcement of Injustice 3, which may now include characters from Alan Moore's Watchmen.

BossLogic is a freelance artist who most recently collaborated with Ubisoft to help reveal Assassin's Creed Valhalla back in May. While BossLogic sometimes collaborates with companies such as Ubisoft and Capcom on official projects, he is also very renown for his fan art and conceptual artwork on currently rumored projects, such as his recent fan art of the upcoming Suicide Squad game from Rocksteady Studios.

Recently, Baslajik posted a poster of Injustice 3 to his Twitter account featuring a broken clock in the background and a smiley face emblem, possibly referencing the Doomsday Clock comic book limited-series which featured characters from Alan Moore's Watchmen crossing over with DC Comic's Justice League. Soon after, BossLogic followed up this post with the same poster featuring Watchmen's Doctor Manhattan.

While neither NetherRealm nor WB Games have responded to either of the artwork, the first image features a copyright notice at the bottom, implying that what BossLogic is posting is indeed official art licensed by Warner Brothers. This would be the first time the Watchmen series has used characters from DC Comics' Vertigo label, the comic book label which, while defunct in January of this year, is responsible for series such as Watchmen, Fables, and The Sandman. It is likely that the Watchmen characters would take inspiration from both Alan Moore's original graphic novel, Zach Snyder's 2009 feature film and possibly HBO's 2019 limited series.

Injustice has featured characters from multiple DC Comic franchises in the past, such as the Justice League and Titans, while also featuring guest characters such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellboy, and Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero. The announcement of Injustice 3 is expected to be made at DC's Fandome event on August 22nd, a 24-hour digital event dedicated to updates and announcements on upcoming DC Comics projects such as Rocksteady's Suicide Squad game and WB Montreal's upcoming Batman video game, with Summer Game Fest creator Geoff Keighley included as part of the guest lineup, likely to host a video game related panel.

DC Fandome will take place on August 22nd 2020.
