Shortly after the cancellation of E3 earlier this year, reports came out indicated WB Games would have been showing the world two big games: the next Batman Arkham game, which seems more likely to be Batman: Gotham Knights every day, and the Harry Potter RPG. Ever since then, rumors and reports have painted a pretty future for the publisher with the two aforementioned games, a new Suicide Squad game, but only ever briefly has Injustice 3 been mentioned.

Earlier this year, a rumor appeared online insinuating the game would include Matrix's Neo and Joaquin Phoenix's take on the Joker, but the rumor was full of holes. More recently, DC comic book author Tom Taylor has been issuing a string of strange tweets, which thus far, has spelled out "I-N."

Having been associated with the Injustice comics, it could be that Taylor's tease is just a new comic run; however, the recent history, reveals, and new information that have been unloaded thus far about games at DC Fandome all lead to one  possible conclusion: Injustice 3 could be revealed.

WB Games is Bringing the Goods to DC Fandome

rocksteady studios announce suicide squad game

First, it's worth taking a look at the four big games that appear to be in various stags of development: Suicide Squad, Batman Arkham 2020, Harry Potter RPG, and lastly, Injustice 3. The only game confirmed to be there so far is Suicide Squad, but the same leaks that revealed it existed before this announcement also leaked a game titled Batman: Gotham Knights. With the latter lining up so well with other previous rumors and Suicide Squad seemingly validating the leak, it's seems like a safe bet Batman will be there as well. After all, if WB Games was indeed ready to show it at E3, the most valid reason for a wait this long is to make DC Fandome an DC-related, E3-level event. Those two games alone would do it.

For obvious reasons, the Harry Potter RPG is unlikely to be at the event, but recent reports suggest development is going well enough. It makes sense not to reveal it yet in this context, as the Harry Potter RPG is said to be a 2021 game. If Batman and Suicide Squad are launching relatively soon, it makes sense to put them at the forefront. Injustice 3, as the most mysterious of the games, remains the wild card.

Including Mortal Kombat, Injustice Director Ed Boon

Injustice Gods Among Us is free on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One until June 25

The biggest indicator it could be there, aside from Taylor's potential teases, is the head of Mortal Kombat and Injustice developer NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon. DC Fandome has confirmed he will be there, which means the chances of Injustice 3 are higher than most events. The real question should be: what should fans expect? Already, it seems likely that Suicide Squad and Batman are meant to be the highlights of the gaming section, and the two enough warrant E3-level announcements.

Stepping back from Injustice 3 for a moment, there's logically only a handful of announcements Ed Boon could be there to make. The first and most obvious is something Mortal Kombat 11 related. It is still receiving plenty of support, while Baraka also appeared in a DC fandome hype trailer. This could be anything from DC skin to new DC characters, as rumors of a Kombat Pack 3 still float around in some circles. However, given the stage, it would make sense for NetherRealm Studios to show a little of its next project, and nothing mentioned thus far negates this. It's possible that Suicide Squad and Batman are announced, get extensive reveals, and possibly have release dates for the near future, while Injustice 3 takes a slightly different route.

When it's NetherRealm Studios turn, showing off new Mortal Kombat 11 material would be enough to make the event a success. But even just a tease of Injustice 3, a confirmation and a small glimpse an Injustice character, would do well in making DC Fandome a memorable E3-like event. An Injustice 3 reveal might just be the most unlikely thing that could happen, it might even have the smallest showing, but with everything else going on, hoping for a small tease seems like a reasonable expectation.

Injustice 3 has not be announced. DC Fandome takes place on August 22.
