Upon its launch, NetherRealm Studios' DC Comics-inspired fighting game, Injustice 2, debuted at number one on the UK charts, and it looks like the title's sales are remaining quite steady. As it so happens, the brawler has managed to maintain the top spot on the UK game sales charts for the second week in a row, officially making it the 6th new title of 2017 to retain its position at number one.

When Injustice 2 came out last week, many weren't too surprised to see the fighting game soar to the top of the charts right out of the gate thanks to the title having been created by the company behind the Mortal Kombat franchise and with the release being a DC Comics brand. Not to mention, its pole position was bolstered by a plethora of positive reviews that praised its engrossing story, intuitive and addictive combat mechanics, as well as its vast depth of customization with its gear and loot system.

Of course, Injustice 2 didn't take the throne of the best-selling title in the UK for the second week in a row without coming up against some opposition. As a matter of fact, with Overwatch's Anniversary event in full effect, the team-based shooter from Blizzard managed to climb from its ranking of 16th to the number two slot right behind the fighting game. Not to mention, Rockstar Games' open world release with Grand Theft Auto 5 remains an ever-looming presence on the charts, as it scored the third spot.

Rounding out the rest of the top five are EA Sports' FIFA 17 at number four, with Arkane Studios and Bethesda's science fiction shooter Prey at number five. Interestingly enough, Capcom's new release of Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers just barely made it into the top ten, with the Nintendo Switch title debuting in the tenth spot. Fans can check out the whole top ten directly below.

  1. Injustice 2
  2. Overwatch
  3. Grand Theft Auto 5
  4. FIFA 17
  5. Prey
  6. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  7. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  8. Dishonored 2
  9. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  10. Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers

While Injustice 2 currently sits atop the UK sales charts, next week could see the NetherRealm Studios release have its title usurped from another fighting game. On June 2, 2017, Bandai Namco Entertainment is slated to release its long-awaited console and PC port of the arcade favorite Tekken 7: Fated Retribution. Bearing this in mind, it will be interesting to find out if the DC Comics brawler manages to fend off the latest entry in the Tekken franchise to hold onto its number one spot for the third week in a row on the charts.

Injustice 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
