Amid the explosion of news that is E3 2017, NetherRealm Studios decided to finally introduce Mortal Kombat mainstay Sub-Zero into the roster of Injustice 2 with a brand new trailer that shows off his icy combos, freeze blasts, and stone cold killer super move. In order to properly welcome Sub-Zero into the DC Universe, the developer decided to have him meet the core members of the Justice League – Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman.

As seen below in the debut trailer for Sub-Zero in Injustice 2, the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei holds his own against the DC superheroes using a fluid set of ice-based skills and variants of moves found in NetherRealm Studios' Mortal Kombat games. Plus, his super move is a supreme way to end a match, as the trailer puts Batman on the receiving end of the assault by being frozen mid-air, smashed in the chest with a giant ice hammer, turned into a pincushion by a storm of icicles, and then thrown on his face.

Sub-Zero is the first crossover character to be added to Injustice 2, and he's coming in July through the brawler's Fighter Pack Season Pass 1 DLC, which also brings the likes of Starfire and Red Hood into the fold. For those unaware, the previous entry to the fighting game franchise hosted an original Mortal Kombat battler as well by adding Scorpion, with the ever-resurrecting ninja hell-spawn generally being considered one of the best DLC additions to Injustice: Gods Among Us.

As of now, though, Sub-Zero will have to wait in the wings until his launch next month, as Injustice 2 fans currently enjoy blasting their opponents into bullet-riddled bits with Jason Todd's antihero alter-ego, Red Hood. For fans who have yet to buy the Season Pass and want to get a better idea of what awaits them in Fighter Pack 1, after checking out the Sub-Zero trailer above, watch some gameplay of the gun-based move set for Red Hood. With any luck, NetherRealm Studios will drop some footage showcasing Starfire's abilities soon.

Injustice 2 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
