Following Starfire's debut trailer at San Diego Comic-Con 2017, the Teen Titans siren has now been confirmed as being playable today, August 8, 2017 for Injustice 2's season pass holders, while other fans of the fighting game franchise will have to wait until her inclusion in the roster on August 15, 2017. The heroine's availability in the NetherRealm Studios title was confirmed by a recent Watchtower livestream that details her abilities.

As seen below in the video from NetherRealm Studios' Twitch channel, Injustice 2 fans can get a better idea as to how Starfire will fare against the game's cast of characters from the DC Universe and beyond, with developers explaining she's a beginner character with a move set smaller than others, as her abilities have been described as being more straightforward. For instance, most of her fighting style revolves around the ability to float above the ground and create weapons and projectiles out of green energy, in addition to her basic melee and jab attacks.

On top of Starfire's fighting prowess being broken down in the above livestream, the NetherRealm Studios Watchtower team also show off some of the character's shaders to display how she looks outside of her default costume. As it so happens, one of the changes to her appearances manages to make her resemble her sister Blackfire, which appropriately alters the hue of the heroine's hair and energy blasts as well.

While Starfire will be sold on her own come mid-August, she will also be available to those who own Injustice 2's Deluxe or Ultimate Editions, as well as those who purchase Fighter Pack 1. As of now, NetherRealm Studios has confirmed there will be a total of at least nine add-on characters – including the three found within Fighter Pack 1 – that are to be released as DLC for the fighting game. On top of Starfire, the title has received the likes of the Batman anti-hero Red Hood and Mortal Kombat's Sub-Zero so far.

Although it's anyone's guess at this point as to which characters will be coming to Injustice 2 outside of Fighter Pack 1, NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon has already provided some tasty teases for the brawlers on their way. About a month ago, Boon insinuated that Aquaman's arch-nemesis Black Manta is in the cards for the next round of DLC, and about a week ago he pointed toward the possibility of Cyrax joining the cast. With any luck, the team at NetherRealm Studios has plenty more surprises to come in terms of fresh faces for the game's roster.

Injustice 2 is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
