Although he has already been revealed as a playable character alongside Captain Cold in Injustice 2 some time ago, NetherRealm Studios has decided to release a brand new trailer highlighting the move set of the Batman nemesis known as Scarecrow. Since the villain played nothing more than a cameo role in the original entry to the DC Comics-inspired fighting game series, it seems as if developers have decided to give him a rather fearsome move set to make up for leaving him out of the first installment.

As seen below in the latest Injustice 2 trailer, Scarecrow is quite nimble in combat and manages to be proficient at long range, especially when swinging his long scythe-like hook to attack and grab his opponents. Those taking on Scarecrow would do well to avoid getting up close to him, as he has a range of different grapple abilities that can stun fighters by way of the use of his neurotoxin Fear Gas.

Speaking of which, Scarecrow's super move in Injustice 2 involves the Fear Toxin, as it allows him to prey upon his adversaries' psychological vulnerabilities to transport them into a nightmare realm to deliver a brutal beat down as a giant version of himself. As it so happens, the design of the DC villain during the super move's execution is reminiscent to the Nightmare levels found within the Batman: Arkham series.

Of course, Scarecrow is far from the only villain to be incorporated into Injustice 2, as NetherRealm Studios has already populated the fighting game with a plethora of different baddies to oppose the heroes of the Justice League and the rest of the DC Universe. However, it seems as if none of the ne'er-do-wells manage to come close to Scarecrow's horrifying aura.

Taking all of this into consideration, with NetherRealm Studios' recent spate of trailers focusing on the game's story and its even its gear system, it's quite likely that the developer is done revealing new recruits for Injustice 2's roster of characters, especially since the title's release date is just a little more than a month away. Nevertheless, there's still some time left for Ed Boon and his team to throw out a few surprise announcements before it launches in May.

Injustice 2 is set to release on May 16, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
