NetherRealm Studios uses Injustice 2‘s official website to list the forthcoming date of the reveal for the next character in its DC-themed superhero fighting game.
Just a couple of days ago, the developers at NetherRealm Studios followed through on its promise to introduce a new character for Injustice 2 on February 2, by showing off Black Canary as the latest addition to the fighting game’s roster. Now, the company has listed the next hero or villain’s reveal date on the title’s official website – the same method used to tease Injustice 2‘s last fighter – with the unveiling set to take place on Tuesday, February 7.
As seen in the image below from the front page of Injustice 2’s official website, NetherRealm Studios didn’t provide any further details or hints about which character from the sprawling DC Universe would go on to be showcased next week. With this being the case, the reveal could come in the form of a cinematic teaser, or a gameplay trailer, which was how Damian Wayne became confirmed as Robin in the forthcoming release.
Beyond the impending reveal for Injustice 2‘s next character, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon recently took to his Twitter account to state that the developer is currently in the process of sending out even more beta invites for the game’s continuing trial. This will be the third round of access codes sent out to fans of the fighting game franchise, but as Boon has said previously, not everyone will be able to get in and try Injustice 2 out before its release date later this year.
As it currently stands, the size for Injustice 2‘s roster is commendable, and the quality of the cast is top-notch, with NetherRealm Studios having provided a near-equal balance of both heroes and villains so far. For instance, the characters players can choose when the game launches includes the heroes Batman, Blue Beetle, The Flash, Superman, Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Robin, Black Canary, and the villains Gorilla Grodd, Atrocitus, Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Darkseid, Bane, Poison Ivy, and Brainiac.
Taking all of this into consideration, it’s really anyone’s guess as to which character will be making their way onto the playable cast of Injustice 2 next week. In the past, Ed Boon has said that he and his team at NetherRealm intend to include figures from the DC Universe who are more obscure than fighters from the previous game, so it’s possible some of the selections on our list of the 10 new characters we want to see in the game will be chosen.
Injustice 2 is set to release on May 16, 2017 for Android and iOS devices, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
