Injustice 2 is just a day away from launch and an official gameplay launch trailer has to been released to celebrate the occasion. The sequel to DC's comic book character fighting game has finally arrived. Over the past few months, players have been introduced to the full roster of playable characters, seen teases introducing Injustice 2's story, and have had new features like the Gear system broken down. All that's left is for Braniac to attack and Injustice 2 to begin.

What this new trailer does well is broadly cover as much of Injustice 2's content as it can in a minute-long trailer. Almost every Injustice 2 character gets a brief amount of screen time, even if it's just a short tease in a cinematic or being on the losing end of Wonder Woman's super move like Atrocitus. The trailer also serves as a great brief introduction to Injustice 2's story, including Supergirl/Power Girl's role as the protagonist and Braniac's role as the game's villain.

And of course there's time reserved to show off Gear in the trailer, too. Batman and Harley Quinn in particular are shown off in several different fantastic looking costumes. Gear's role in Injustice 2 isn't purely cosmetic, of course. It also allows players to adjust their fighter's statistics to better suit their play-style. Let's not pretend that appearance isn't the priority here, though.

Today's trailer likely wraps up WB and NetherRealm's pre-launch marketing spree. Over the past week a bevy of media has been released, including the launch of the mobile version of the game. The mobile game not only features the same roster as the console Injustice 2 game, but also includes the same story and cutscenes – though only the first chapter is currently available. The community's done its part too, leaking unannounced Premier Skins that transform current fighters into new ones.

With Injustice 2's launch approaching, it's also time to start looking towards post-launch content and events. NetherRealm's already announced the Injustice 2 Championship Series, several tournaments with a $600,000 prize pool, to start on March 26. Then there's the first collection of 3 DLC characters, the first of 3 DLC packs, which should launch in the next few months. It looks like the launch of Injustice 2 is just the beginning.

Injustice 2 launches on May 16 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
