Injustice 2: Leaked Joker Gameplay Footage

Since the announcement of Injustice 2 was made almost a year ago, developer NetherRealm has been slowly releasing previews of the various characters that will be making up the diverse cast of superheroes and villains. One character that they haven't announced yet is the highly-demanded Joker, who set the plot of the first Injustice title in motion, though new leaked footage confirms that the clown prince himself will in fact be coming to the game.

In the video below, courtesy of GameFragger, we get a closer look at the villain who was often thought to be the lowest tier character in the first game. Unfortunately the gameplay doesn't show much of what the Joker has to offer, but the long-time Batman villain will fight with a knife, crowbar, and other assorted tools when he appears in Injustice 2.

The character's appearance also seems to be significantly different to the first title's Joker incarnation. With a long coat and hat, this Joker costume seems to be more of a disguise than casual wear, so it'll be interesting to see how the villain makes an appearance in the story once Injustice 2 launches next month.

It seems that NetherRealm really struggled to keep this final character reveal under wraps, especially when you consider that this isn't the first we've heard of the Joker returning to the Injustice franchise. Earlier this week, the achievement list for the game was made available, with Joker-specific achievements that see the character interacting with Harley Quinn and Batman.

Thanks to these various leaks, it's probably safe to say that we're not long from an official Joker reveal, so fans of the series aren't far from getting to see what DC's favorite clown has in store for us this time round. The developer is currently releasing new character trailers every week, so we can expect the final slot to be officially announced sometime in the coming days.

Injustice 2 is slated to release on May 16, 2017 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
