Following an impressive debut a few months ago, fans have been eagerly anticipating what's coming next for the popular fighting game, Injustice 2. With the first wave of downloadable content now at an end, the community has been speculating wildly as to the next trio of characters to join the already expansive roster of DC heroes and villains. After numerous teases, NetherRealm Studios has finally revealed the three characters joining the Injustice 2 roster, including a fan favorite and two surprising guests.

In a new Injustice 2 trailer showing the aftermath of the Fighter Pack 1 trailer, fans witness Sub Zero getting shot across the room by a bolt of lightning from none other than Mortal Kombat's God of Thunder himself, Raiden. Also stepping out from the shadows is the highly requested Aquaman villain, Black Manta. After firing rockets from hidden launchers on his back, one of the projectiles is caught out of mid air by a massive red fist. Using the rocket to light a cigarette, fans see that the final character is actually Hellboy, a character which for the most part wasn't speculated on at all.

For now, there's no official release date yet for this pack or the first character, Black Manta is confirmed to be the first roster addition sometime in September. The trailer then confirms that fans will get a first look at the villain sometime this coming Sunday, August 27.

From there the tried-and-true pattern for previous character launches will likely continue on a monthly basis as each DLC fighter arrived one month after the last. Thankfully, the downloadable content plans involve more than just characters, as the game has already received quality of life updates such as character balancing and bug fixes as well. Not only that, the popular premier skins, which give a new look and voice to characters on the roster, appear to be another focus of post-launch content. Already fans have access to skins for Power Girl and Reverse Flash, but now a Bizarro skin was recently added into the game for Superman.

Injustice 2 is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
