With less than two weeks left before release and a now fully revealed day one character roster, many fans of NetherRealm Studio's upcoming fighter, Injustice 2, have turned their attention to the previously announced nine downloadable content characters. Some fan favorites such as Starfire, Spawn, and Red Hood unfortunately did not make the main roster, so naturally, people have begun to speculate that they will be added after launch. After teasing the fan base with an immanent announcement, NetherRealm has finally peeled the curtain back on a few of the upcoming characters that will be joining the roster.

Officially known as Fighter Pack 1, the DLC pack bundles together two highly requested characters in Starfire and Red Hood, alongside Mortal Kombat icon and heavy rumored addition, Sub Zero. The short trailer doesn't offer any gameplay for the three upcoming characters in Injustice 2, only showing them meeting up in a broken underground structure similar to the location that was shown during the initial CG reveal trailer a year ago.

More questions remain however as there's no word on when these three will be available to purchase and for how much. Either way, this announcement should make longtime fans very happy however as both Red Hood and Starfire have been at the center of most post launch character talks. In fact, Ed Boon has been teasing fans about Red Hood for quite a while, even asking fans on Twitter last year which version of the character players would want to see added. The Jason Todd version won out, which clearly helped guide the studio in its design choices for this trailer.

In total, 9 post-launch characters are planned, and based on this trailer it would appear that NetherRealm is primed to release characters in sets of three. The end of the trailer provided a small glimpse into Fighter Packs 2 and 3 by showing character silhouettes, which should get the Injustice community buzzing with speculation. Many of the shadows are hard to make out, though some characters with distinct looks can be identified, including Aquaman's longtime rival Black Manta and potentially another Mortal Kombat character in Raiden thanks to one of the figures wearing what looks to be a straw hat.
