It appears that Mortal Kombat's Cyrax might be joining the Injustice 2 roster, if fan assumptions on NetherRealm's latest tease is correct. Ed Boon, the creative director on Injustice 2, tweeted an image that seemingly shows a closeup of Cyrax from behind. Many fans came to this conclusion based on the yellow hue of the armor, along with the long, thin tube protruding from the back.

For those who don't know, Cyrax is one of the palette-swapping cybernetic ninjas from the Mortal Kombat series; along with Sektor and Smoke. Cyrax is the yellow one that was introduced to the series, along with Sektor, in Mortal Kombat 3. While there hasn't been any official confirmation on the matter since the image was released, fans are confident it's him. If he is unveiled as a playable character in the future, he will be joining another palette-swapping character from the MK series, Sub-Zero, who was released earlier this month.

The Cyrax teaser image follows just days after another one was posted on the game's official Twitter, which showed off a new Bizarro skin for Superman. Keen-eyed fans may have already spotted Bizarro in the game before this, if they were paying close attention to the game's most recent character trailer.

During San Diego Comic-Con 2017, a new trailer debuted that unveiled Starfire as an upcoming character for Injustice 2. In the video, she is seen putting the beatdown on Superman in what looks like his Bizarro skin. Note the pale skin, tattered cape, and backwards S on his chest -- its unmistakable.

The roster for Injustice 2 continues to increase, and it shows no signs of slowing down. It's good to see the game will see plenty of playtime long after its release. Until it's confirmed or denied, fans can assume Cyrax is in development, but we won't know what he will be like in-game until he gets a proper trailer.

Injustice 2 is available now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
