Cheetah was initially announced as part of the Injustice 2 roster back in February, but NetherRealm Studios has now put together a proper introduction trailer for the villain. One of Wonder Woman's earliest and most notable villains, Cheetah's backstory and powers have changed dramatically over the years. Her modern incarnation, the character included in Injustice 2, is empowered by the gods much like Wonder Woman is. Which is precisely why she's featured in Injustice 2.

Cheetah's trailer, like previous character introduction trailers for Injustice 2, focuses prominently on the character's various combos and special abilities. As befits her feline theme, the bulk of Cheetah's attacks are slashing swipes with her claws or focused around her speed and agility. Cheetah appears to be one of the few characters that doesn't feature a projectile attack, a teleport, or power armor, which typically fare poorly in NetherRealm games, but perhaps her speedy movements will make up for it.

It's also interesting that Cheetah appears to be the sole roster member in Injustice 2 taken from Wonder Woman's rogues gallery. To be fair, Wonder Woman's enemies aren't as infamous as other major DC superheroes, but for one of DC's main trio of heroes who has a movie planned for release in the next year, some extra attention seems deserved. Ares, Strife, Giganta, or even Doctor Psycho would be fun to see get some love. Cheetah's a solid pick, however, if only one Wonder Woman villain can make the cut.

Since Cheetah was previously revealed, Injustice 2's roster remains the same size as prior – 27. Though additional reveals are likely coming down the pipeline. In fact, the next reveal is planned for later this week, with the official Injustice 2 website marking down March 23 for the next big announcement. Technically the big announcement could pertain to one of three characters already confirmed but not fully revealed, which includes Captain Cold, Scarecrow, and pre-order DLC character Darkseid.

Injustice 2 is available starting May 16, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
