NetherRealm Studios is a studio known for placing an emphasis on story with its fighting games, and the upcoming superhero brawler Injustice 2 looks to continue that tradition. While the first two parts of the Shattered Alliances series of trailers focused on the perspectives of Superman and Batman, part three shows how Supergirl fits into these shifting loyalties.

Hailing from Krypton like her cousin, the trailer surprisingly shows off her origins as she escapes the destruction of her home world and comes across the pod that houses baby Kal-El. Naturally, the events of Injustice 2 sees her side with Superman and the House of El, believing him to be a beacon of hope for the world. It's clear that this partnership becomes strained as the story progresses, with Superman continually testing her loyalty and threatening her if she doesn't do what he wants.

With the game now less than two months away, character reveals have been coming very quickly and this trailer shows off Black Adam for the first time. The returning fighter only makes a brief appearance, but fans can get a great look at his super, which has him teleporting his victim to Egypt where they are smashed against the side of a pyramid. From there, Black Adam smashes them through and then out the top before calling down a massive lightning strike which essentially destroys the entire structure on a massive blast.

Along with Black Adam now, NetherRealm has really hit the accelerator on revealing new characters. Just in the past two weeks along, fans have gotten a better look at a number of characters like Cheetah, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Firestorm. Previously unannounced characters like Captain Cold also make a very brief, blink and you'll miss it, appearance as well leading many to believe his official reveal is right around the corner.

What do you think of Black Adam? Let us know who else you're hoping to see on the main roster once the game launches.

Injustice 2 launches on May 21, 2017 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
