Injustice tells us the story of a universe where Superman has developed an absolute no-nonsense attitude towards criminals after losing Lois Lane in the lead-up to the first title. It brings a fantastic dystopian DC Universe which has characters choosing sides between Superman and the resistance to do battle. Characters in the game are varied and some are trickier than others to learn for newcomers to fighting games. Here is a selection of the best characters for beginners to pick and learn the basics with.

7 Deadshot

One of the first characters that would be a good idea for beginners to test out is Deadshot. Floyd Lawton, aka Deadshot, is a highly trained assassin and a member of the infamous Suicide Squad. Floyd has a unique and sometimes romantic relationship with one Miss Harley Quinn after they teamed up on several missions.

Deadshot uses his varied arsenal of weapons to keep the enemy at a distance. Using moves such as his wrist cannon is a good way to push back opponents or get out of a sticky situation. Entire matches can be won by just shooting at an opponent, so Deadshot is the first character to check out for newcomers to the game.

6 Wonder Woman

Diana Prince is a demi-god and one of the main characters in the Injustice franchise. She believes what Superman is doing is right and will defend his regime at all costs. Diana is a great character to pick as she utilizes her strength and weaponry throughout each battle.

Wonder Woman is a powerful character, meaning a lot of her attacks will heavily damage the opponent. Using her shield toss can push back the enemy if they get in too close. Having a lasso at hand is useful and Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth can throw opponents across the stage, giving her room to breathe when pressured.

5 Aquaman

Arthur Curry may not have been the go-to superhero for anyone in years past. However, now that a certain Jason Mamoa has breathed new life and a fresh take on Aquaman on the silver screen, he is no longer the joke of the Justice League.

Aquaman is a strong character that has special attacks that build fast and hit hard. Combining the specials with his trident skills, Aquaman becomes a clear choice for newcomers with easy-to-pull-off combos but also has plenty of more complex combos to be learned.

4 Supergirl

Supergirl is the cousin of Kal-El and is a newcomer to the Injustice video game franchise this time round. Kara arrived on Earth before her older cousin but was awakened after Clark was already fully grown. Injustice shows Kara will fight any enemy of her cousin Clark and supports his cause.

Using Supergirl is a good choice for players who find Superman to move a bit slowly. Kara has most of Superman’s powers, albeit a bit weaker while also having slightly faster movement. Sacrificing power for speed may suit newcomers who find themselves getting caught in the range of opponents while using Superman.

3 Green Arrow

Oliver Queen is very much Bruce Wayne if he preferred a bow and arrow to gadgets and fancy cars. Taking vigilante justice to the streets as the Green Arrow, Oliver sides with Batman during the power struggle between Superman and the other heroes.

Green Arrow is a fast character, utilizing gymnastic-like flips and jumps to evade projectiles effortlessly is a huge plus for new players. Oliver also uses his bow and arrow skills to keep the distance between him and his opponents. Trick arrows are also part of the Green Arrows' arsenal and can be used in combination with Oliver's speed to easily outmatch opponents.

2 Superman

injustice 2

DC Comics icon, Metropolis legend, tyrant. Not usually a word associated with Superman, until Joker pushed him to his limit. In the first game, Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois, leading to the usual American hero with a can-do attitude changing things up dramatically. Superman is essentially the villain of the Injustice story with many characters choosing his side or Batman to fight for.

As a character, Superman is stronger than most characters on the roster. His combos are not too tricky to pull off and uses his powers to attack from a distance. Combining his strength and abilities make for an easily accessible character for all players and one that becomes deadly in seasoned players' hands.

1 Batman

injustice 2

The Dark Knight, the Caped Crusader, the World's Greatest Detective, or just plain old Bruce Wayne, is one of the most famous comic book characters of all time. In the Injustice universe, Batman runs the resistance to Superman’s legions and tries to bring his old friend back to the light.

Controlling Batman is easy and a foundation upon which to build when playing other characters. His attacks pack a punch, and he has many gadgets players can use to keep opponents out of reach and down for the count. He may not be as strong as other superheroes on the roster but his martial arts skills will keep even the newest of players out of trouble.
