Infinity Ward and DICE Address 'Battlefield 3' & 'Modern Warfare 3' Cheaters

Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 Glitchers Addressed

It goes without saying that one of the biggest deterrent to any single player’s enjoyment of a multiplayer title are glitchers/cheaters. Causing not just a ton of frustration for their opponents, but oftentimes completely altering the dynamic of a multiplayer experience, glitchers are public enemy number one when it comes to popular multiplayer developers.

As such, it’s not surprising to hear both DICE and Infinity Ward to come out and acknowledge they are working around the clock to stop glitchers/cheaters from causing problems in Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3.

For Infinity Ward, the problems are being handled at a slower pace, with IW tweeting that upwards of 1,600 players have been banned, and adding that constant work is being done to keep the PC experience of MW3 as pure as possible. Unfortunately the developer has no word on when a patch might release and what key areas that update might focus on.

DICE, on the other hand, has just revealed that they have a new PC client update for Battlefield 3 in the pipeline that will not only eliminate much of the malfeasance that is taking place on the virtual battlefields, but also will make running Battlefield 3 on the PC smoother. For those asking about a console version of said patch, there is one coming, but the certification process is a bit longer for consoles and should be arriving not too far off from the PC’s release.

With the holiday season already begun, and more players joining the ranks of Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 every day, one could say that DICE and Infinity Ward have a long road ahead of them. Though many rank exploits and glitches have been discovered for both games, with every glitch gone a new one rises in its place. As long as the developers can stay ahead of the really bad ones, everybody should win out in the end.

Have you experienced any bad glitchers or cheaters in either Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3? What do you think each game’s key area of focus should be in a new patch/update?
