'Infinity Blade' Slashes to the Top of the App Store

Infinity Blade is the fantasy/medieval action role-playing game developed by ChAIR Entertainment, an Epic Games subsidiary. It is set to be released for iPhone, iPod Touch, and the Apple iPad. The stunning trailer for this Unreal Engine 3 powered experience created quite the buzz for the game. The graphic brilliance shown in the trailer has been described as a major victory for the mobile platform.

The action-adventure role-playing game will be the first mobile game powered by Epic's Unreal Engine 3 technology. This cutting edge technology will release the full potential of the iOS platform and even has people thinking about bringing Gears of War, the Epic Games powerhouse, to the platform.

ChAIR was first thrust into the spotlight through their work on the very well-received Shadow Complex, which redefined what Xbox Live Arcade games could strive to be. With Infinity Blade, they may just do the same for mobile gaming.

Visually stunning, Infinity Blade features adrenaline-fueled sword battles and boss fights set in a fully 3D castle. The single-player mode features simple touch controls which enable gamers to engage in fun, furious battles. Players will be able to level up and earn more armor and more powerful weapons and items for their characters as they fight through the castle towards the game's big boss.

The game has been priced at $5.99 and will be available for iPhone 3GS / 3rd-gen iPod Touch forward and iPad. From what has been shown and promised, the price seems very reasonable. Epic Games and ChAIR Entertainment are stuffing a robust, console quality experience into a mobile game.

The mobile gaming platform as a whole is a increasingly popular medium that no longer only lends itself to the casual gamer. Gamers, in this generation, are lucky to have so many different ways to enjoy quality games. The console is no longer the only place to be immersed in a fully realized gaming experience.
