One of the big selling points for Sucker Punch's upcoming PS4 exclusive inFAMOUS: Second Son - aside from the fact that the protagonist, Delsin Rowe, can transform himself into smoke, travel through air vents to the roof of a building and then shoot fire out of his hands at attacking enemies - is just how pretty the game looks. A very urban, gritty kind of pretty.

Just like the Borderlands games managed to find a kind of beauty in barren, hostile wastelands, the inFAMOUS: Second Son development team at Sucker Punch has been having fun creating the most beautiful crappy weather possible in the game's alternate version of Seattle.

Sucker Punch is based in Bellevue, WA, just outside of Seattle. As the new "Make it Rain" featurette for inFAMOUS: Second Son demonstrates, the team was very enthused about creating their home town in the virtual world and using the power of the inFAMOUS' new game engine to bring the city's weather to life. It offers some interesting insights into the making of the game, and seeing the developers look out over Lake Washington at the same city they're recreating (for the purposes of casual destruction) makes the whole project seem very personal.

This close to the release it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but The Sixth Axis has confirmed in an interview with brand development director Ken Schramm that inFAMOUS: Second Son won't have multiplayer. There probably won't be too many tears shed over this news; while it's possible to envisage a multiplayer mode for an inFAMOUS game, it's not a franchise that really demands one. The series' success so far has been built on the strength of its solo gameplay and inFAMOUS: Second Son looks to be no exception.

That's not to say that an inFAMOUS multiplayer mode could never work; with inFAMOUS: Second Son introducing even more types of elemental powers, it might be interesting to see a mode that allows players to pick a particular class of Conduit and face off against one another. If Sucker Punch prefers to focus all of its energy on developing the singleplayer experience, however, then that's just fine as well.

'inFamous Second Son' - Delsin uses smoke powers

The Q&A also answered some questions with regards to side quests and the way that Delsin's different superpowers will work. As with the previous inFAMOUS games, sidequests will be available outside of the main story mission without any kind of time limit, but completing a "good" or "evil" sidequest will remove the option of its karmic counterpart.

Previous trailers have showcased Delsin's fire/smoke abilities and the power of neon, and the devlopers have hinted that there are more types of powers to be discovered. Delsin has a Peter Petrelli-esque ability to steal powers from other Conduits, but Schrammsaid that combining different elements in the same attack won't be possible due to a meter that restricts the player's ability to switch between them. No chance to cook up a neon-smoke-icicle grenade, then? Shame.
