The first behind-the-scenes set photo of Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones 5 as the iconic titular character was revealed. In the photo, we see everybody on set, including Ford, wearing a face mask due to them still filming amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The new film will be the follow-up to the 2008 fourth installment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Indiana Jones is a dungeon-crawling action movie franchise that spans decades. The franchise follows Dr. Jones as he uncovers mysterious artifacts and goes on life or death missions that include gunfights, car chases, and booby traps. Despite being known for its movies, Indiana Jones is also in the video game world. Many are assuming that Indiana Jones 5 will be the final entry in the mainline film series, but this isn't yet confirmed.

Directed by James Mangold with producers Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Kathleen Kennedy, and Simon Emanuel, Indiana Jones 5 is currently being filmed in the UK with an expected July 2022 release date. As of now, there is no confirmed official plot but roles have been filled with stars such as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook, and Shaunette Renée Wilson. Despite the lack of plot info, it hasn't stopped fans from creating theories as to what will happen in this long-awaited sequel.

The rumors that are currently circulating span across a wide range of topics that mostly seem far-fetched. A while back there was a younger stunt actor filmed on set which made many assume that there would be flashback scenes, but this could also be a stunt actor filling in for Ford since he's currently 78. One theory assumes the aliens from the last film will be making a return and have a heavy influence on the plot of this movie. Another theory talks about a scrapped plotline from The Last Crusade to be used here for Indiana Jones 5 instead. Lastly, one final theory talked about ghosts making an appearance.

Regardless of what the Indiana Jones 5 plot is, one can hope that this is Indy's last adventure and it ends on a high note. When movies get multiple sequels there often doesn't get to be a satisfying conclusion. With Ford nearing 80 years old, this film would do well if it serves as the final chapter to Indiana Jones' story.

Indiana Jones has influenced a lot of media in terms of pop culture, so many don't want to see it end. There have been talks of a reboot or a successor taking over for the franchise. Since the movies didn't come out within close proximity, there's plenty of adventures fans didn't see. A while back there were fan castings for Chris Pratt to play a younger Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled to release in theaters on July 29, 2022.
