Immortals Fenyx Rising's next DLC, The Lost Gods, is releasing tomorrow and the developers gave a sneak peek at what players can expect during a live stream today. The DLC brings a lot of changes to Immortals Fenyx Rising, including a new protagonist, new gods, and a bird's-eye perspective.

Ubisoft released Imortals Fenyx Rising in December of last year, and the third-person action RPG was well received by critics upon release. It was followed by two different DLCs, with the second, Myths of the Eastern Realm, bringing a new protagonist and pantheon of gods to the game as it was eschewed the base game's Greek mythology for Chinese.

As much as Myths of the Eastern Realm was a large step for Immortals Fenyx RisingThe Lost Gods looks to be even more so. While the new DLC does return to Greek Mythology, its new perspective is more similar to what players would expect from games like Diablo, and it carries some big gameplay changes with it. Much of what makes up Immortals Fenyx Rising's base game is still present in The Lost Gods, including the sense of humor and exploration. Although, the new perspective removes a lot of the features of the base game, such as climbing, and changes the combat to be more brawler-inspired.

During the livestream, developer Julien Galloudec made a point to emphasize that, while much of the experience has been changed in the DLC, there is still much of what players loved in Immortals Fenyx Rising in The Lost Gods. He also discusses how the decision was made so that the developers could take advantage of the new camera angle to give players new types of challenges and mechanics. Galloudec also discussed how the camera change ties in well with the game's story and reflects protagonist Fenyx's place in the DLC.

It is a very daring move to make a DLC for a game so completely different from the experience players had previously. The change could very well turn away many of Immortals Fenyx Rising's fans, but it could also lead to a very unique experience if pulled off well enough. Hopefully, The Lost Gods is able to deliver enough of what was loved about the base game to satisfy fans. With this new DLC being so different, it will be fascinating to see what else the future holds for the world of Immortals Fenyx Rising and Ubisoft's many other series.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Lost Gods DLC launches April 22nd.
