Immortals: Fenyx Rising was a bit of a gamble for Ubisoft, as new IPs always are. Its investor center on the Ubisoft official website shows promising sales numbers, especially on the Nintendo Switch platform.

Since Ubisoft's Immortals: Fenyx Rising launched last year, it has received critical acclaim, with reviews being generally favorable for the Breath of the Wild-alike. Now, Ubisoft has revealed its full-year investor data and the results are positive for the company.

Ubisoft's full year 2021 document remarks that Immortals: Fenyx Rising displays "solid on-going sales" and has quickly become a "player-favorite" IP. With its three currently known DLC packs already released, including the Lost Gods story expansion, it's clear that Ubisoft sees the game's world as a platform to tell multiple stories. On an investor conference call Frederick Duguet, the Chief Financial Officer of the company, has remarked that the game is an "evergreen title," and commented on its great performance in terms of Nintendo Switch sales.

These sales numbers display a bright future for the IP. Considering Ubisoft's tendency to create long-running series out of its successful IPs, high sales and numerous favorable reviews for Immortals: Fenyx Rising could mean more DLC or even an entirely new game is coming in the near future. However, Ubisoft also does have a tendency to leave beloved IPs underused; just last year, it removed a Facebook post after readers misinterpreted it as teasing a new Rayman game, which indicates the beloved series may have been shelved for now.

The success of Immortals: Fenyx Rising could mean Ubisoft may become more willing to introduce new IPs, but it may not bode well for older ones. If Ubisoft sees that new IPs sell well and begins focusing on those, it is possible that fan favorite classic IPs will be pushed even more back in the lineup of new games. Of course, its consistently high-selling games will likely continue development, especially with rumors of a new Assassin's Creed game in the works, but it could be an interesting next few years if the company isn't done with new IPs.

Despite Ubisoft's continued success in the gaming industry, it is difficult to avoid the fact that the company has come under fire recently for protecting abusive managers. If the recent movement to hold Ubisoft accountable gains traction, it may be forced to make the structural changes called upon since these allegations first came to light. For now, though, it remains an industry juggernaut, with Immortals: Fenyx Rising being another success in its eyes.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising is available now on Amazon Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia.
