I Am Alive Tape 2 Encounters Trailer

Like King Leonidas from 300, you gotta do what you gotta do. If that means foot stomping your opponent into a deep, deep hole in I Am Alive, then that's what you've gotta do.

A brand new teaser trailer for I Am Alive has hit the web; watch it to learn the ins-and-outs of how to negotiate close encounters with the locals of Haventon.

In I Am Alive, gamers will be on their own in a post-apocalyptic environment full of dust and gassy fumes. Much like the film, The Road, it's anything goes. Beyond the environmental threats lies the possibility of unpredictable encounters with survivors of the "Event." All of the survivors adopt unique behavior based on the actions chosen by players -- survivors may be friendly, or they may be quite hostile and edgy.

The official trailer for I Am Alive gave a hint of what the tone of the game is, and now this new trailer offers players a good idea of how to navigate encounters. Depending on the situation, the survivors may act differently, so all guards must be up -- this is intimidation-based combat. Much like in the Metal Gear Solid games, stealth is your friend, and the less ammo you spend the better. Choose to bluff enemies or take them out quietly with a nice bow and arrow.

I Am Alive has had to endure a lot of unfortunate delays, but rest assured that Ubisoft Shanghai has done this game justice by starting from scratch. From the beginning, I Am Alive almost looked like an Uncharted-esque game of scaling buildings and ruins, but watching this new trailer does not make that case.

Unfamiliar with I Am Alive? Here is the official synopsis from the game's website:

"One year after, a worldwide cataclysmic event that wiped most of the human race, a man struggles for survival in a desolate city as he tries to reunite with his long lost wife and daughter. In this post-apocalyptical tale, there are no supernatural threats, just an everyman who faces a decaying and hazardous world and humanity’s darkest inclinations. Will you hang on to your humanity and help strangers or are you ready to sacrifice others in order to survive?"

Almost four years after its announcement, I Am Alive will finally see the light of day during the XBLA House Party 2012, which kicks off February 15, 2011.
