Hytale developer Hypixel made a major announcement just recently, confirming that the studio had been acquired by League of Legends developer Riot Games. The announcement followed a period of silence from the typically communicative Hypixel, but now that the acquisition is public, dev updates are back. The latest talks about several new additions to  Hytale's Adventure Mode, including refinements to dual wielding.

Dual-wielding isn't a new concept in Hytale, but its new functionality will make it seem brand new. Now Hytale allows players to dual-wield different items, making it perfect for utility rather than just dual-wielded weapons. Players can hold a mining pick in one hand and torches in the other, perfect for tunnel diving. Other applications will be obvious once players get their hands on the game.

Hypixel has also added a new radial menu system which makes swapping items in either hand fast and easy. Players will be able to go from mining in the dark to prepared to battle with a few quick button presses.

Other new additions to Hytale touched on in the dev update include new angled roof blocks, showcased across a dozen creative screenshots from Hytale's testing, and a new track from Hytale's OST. To sum the post up, Hytale continues to grow in small and large ways. The Riot Games acquisition ensures that Hytale will be delivered exactly as Hypixel envisions its game to be.

Hytale releases in 2021 on PC.
