Ganondorf Gets a New Look in ‘Hyrule Warriors’

By | 2 years ago

The next big exclusive lined up for release on Nintendo’s Wii U is a zany spin-off from The Legend of Zelda series, and it’ll be arriving this September under the moniker Hyrule Warriors. The game, which was developed in collaboration with Tecmo Koei, features a bevy of heroes and villains from throughout the iconic Nintendo franchise, but there was one major character that had been missing up until this point.

This familiar face is, of course, the main villain Ganondorf, who’s elongated M.I.A. status had some concerned and many baffled. Fortunately for fans of Link’s main foe, the latest Nintendo Direct confirmed that Ganondorf will not only be making an appearance within Hyrule Warriors, but will be a playable character capable of wiping out droves of enemies on a whim.

The quintessential boss character has also been given a completely overhauled look for his latest appearance — instead opting to follow the style of a samurai warrior more so than previous incarnations. With flowing red locks and a pair of swords based off his appearance in The Wind Waker, Ganondorf appears to be just as menacing as he’s ever been before.

Those who aren’t a fan of his new look, however, can change it based on a newly announced promotion with Club Nintendo. As revealed during the Nintendo Direct presentation, anyone that registers a copy of Hyrule Warriors on the service before a certain time will receive the Demon King Costume Set for free. This exclusive DLC will reward fans with costumes that make Ganondorf resemble that of his Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess counterparts, so fans will definitely want to take advantage of the limited offer.

There will likely be even more playable characters that surface between this point and the game’s release later this year, but there are still a few popular characters currently omitted from the title. The main antagonist of Majora’s Mask, Skull Kid, is one that instantly comes to mind — as does the reoccurring wizard Vaati — but Nintendo could very well still have a couple of tricks up its sleeve for fans.

Hyrule Warriors will be arriving exclusively on the Wii U on September 26, 2014 in North America.
