While many of the playable characters in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity are heroes, that is not the case for absolutely all of them. Indeed, players that are interested in taking a villain into battle can do just that by unlocking Ganon in this brand new musou title from Omega Force. That said, unlocking Ganon is not something that Age of Calamity fans can do immediately upon starting the game, as significant progress is a prerequisite for obtaining the character.

More specifically, the first step to unlocking Ganon in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is to complete the main story; something that can be done in around 10 hours. From there, fans will need to complete the Terrako's Return mission, which centers around repairing a tiny Guardian and is unlocked in the post-game. This is done by collecting 50 Terrako Components, and players will need to tackle quite a number of a missions before they have earned that much of this Age of Calamity material and unlocked Terrako.

With Terrako's Return finished, fans should now keep working on the variety of missions in Age of Calamity, and in so doing they will eventually unlock one called Versus Calamity Ganon. This mission pits players against three challenging enemies, with Calamity Ganon himself serving as the final boss, and fans will need to bring their best if they want to complete it before time runs out. While this may ultimately take several attempts, players that are persistent should come out on top and unlock Ganon as a reward for their efforts.

With respect to how Calamity Ganon functions in battle, part of his toolkit focuses on spreading and absorbing Malice. He can also unleash an absolutely devastating attack wherein he temporarily transforms and shoots a beam from his mouth. As is always the case when unlocking a new character in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, players can master these moves in a training arena before they take Ganon into more challenging missions.

As many players will expect, Calamity Ganon is likely to be the last character that is unlocked in Age of Calamity. While there are some other characters that are earned outside of the main story, such as the Great Fairies, they become available much earlier in the game. However, if a player has somehow missed unlocking any of those special characters, they should feel free to take Ganon into the relevant missions and spread his Malice far and wide.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
