With Season Two of Hyper Scape in full swing, Ubisoft's answer to the Free-to-Play, Battle Royale genre is preparing to receive a highly requested update to keep players connected. Coming between seasons, Ubisoft is planning a new title update for Hyper Scape that is looking to respond to community feedback and bring new features to both the base game and the recently added Team Deathmatch.

The update will arrive on December 10th, with Hyper Scape looking to improve the current experience for players on all platforms, while being careful to keep from opening up the majority of the player base to hackers. This will most specifically be focusing on how console players will be able to play together, not only on the same console, but also extending to the new standard for similar multiplayer titles.

According to an in-depth look at the update by Senior Producer Graeme Jennings and Game Director Thomas Simon in the second Lab Update, Ubisoft will be adding crossplay as a part of the upcoming Hyper Scape overhaul. This crossplay feature will be an automatic feature among console players, with PlayStation and Xbox systems connecting to each other as the standard for matchmaking in the future. However, connecting with PC will require a bit more effort, with players needing to invite friends into parties in order to play the game together between the platforms.

The lack of standard PC crossplay is a slight disappointment for some fans looking to see a much larger community to automatically connect to for better queue times. However, considering the plague of PC cheats in multiplayer games like Warzone, it's likely that Ubisoft is just trying to be careful not to turn away console players by subjecting them to the section of the playerbase with easier access to cheating software. Of course, fans looking to play with their friends across the console to PC divide can still join up together through their friends list, so the platforms aren't completely disconnected.

Crossplay and cross-saves have become more than a bonus feature for only a select few games over the last several years. So, adding this feature so soon after release might be exactly what Ubisoft will need to include in order to keep Hyper Scape relevant among FPS titles. This could be especially helpful as the title grows in popularity, as a steady playerbase from multiple consoles could help make sure that there are enough players to keep matches running at a fast pace.

Hyper Scape is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
