Those who are involved in the video game industry know how important social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook can be for communication and outreach. Now, it seems that the publisher behind Heart Machine's Hyper Light Drifter is criticizing the social media platform, Twitter.

The news comes from Abylight’s blog, where the company sent out a PSA to its fans calling for help. Apparently, Abylight’s official Twitter account was suspended for no apparent reason, and Abylight is asking fans and followers to signal-boost the team's call for help.

As of this writing, going to @abylight on Twitter shows the official account is still suspended. Abylight said it has no idea why its account was suspended, as it came "without warning or explanation." The publisher also said its team's messages to Twitter support have gone unnoticed. Plenty of social platforms ban users for breaking community guidelines. However, those platforms may make mistakes when banning, like the recent situation where Twitch reversed a ban on a streamer due to an error on the platform’s part.

The team writes, “A Twitter algorithm malfunction cut us from our 7400-people network of gamers and games industry professionals.” Additionally, Abylight’s CEO Eva Gaspar took aim at Twitter saying, “This attitude is incredibly dangerous and careless from such a big company, especially given the current state of affairs worldwide." The team has started a campaign on using the hashtag #freeabylight in the hopes that Twitter sees the messages and resolves the issue. With any luck, the team behind Hyper Light Drifter can get its official Twitter account back and resume communication with fans and staff soon.
