The mangaka behind the smash-hit manga Hunter x Hunter, created a Twitter account for seemingly one purpose only - to tease fans that finally, new chapters may be on the way. He tweeted on May 24th that four new chapters are ready and that they may not be the end. Hunter x Hunter was first published in 1998, and currently has 36 volumes. The manga's popularity led to it becoming an anime with nearly 200 episodes across two series, along with a couple of movies and seven video games. Since 2006, the manga has frequently been on long-term hiatus, and this time, Hunter x Hunter has been on pause since November 2018.RELATED: Hunter x Hunter: The Strongest Types of Hunters, RankedIt seems that the wait for new material may be nearly over for fans, though. Yoshihiro Togashi, the mangaka who created Hunter x Hunter, posted a mysterious picture of a whiteboard and paper with the simple caption, とりあえずあと4 話, or “4 more chapters, for the time being.” There was nothing more shared.

That simple sentence was enough to get fans excited though! Not only are four more chapters on the way, but it also sounds like even more are coming, too. After nearly three years of waiting, it’s understandable why fans that already know the story backwards and forwards are ready to see what happens next in the story.

Typically, previous hiatuses of Hunter x Hunter were for less than a year, so this past break has been particularly hard on everyone. What’s important to remember is that Togashi did not reveal any kind of release date, so for now, the waiting game has to continue until more information is released. I

t seems that Togashi did this entirely for the fans, reminding them to not forget about their beloved story, and that he really has been working and has not abandoned them. After all, he created a Twitter account to make this post.

So he must know that Hunter x Hunter have been waiting patiently (or not so patiently) for a long time now, and he wanted to give them hope (though they already seem to have a good sense of humor). Hunter x Hunter fans around the world will be hoping that the next time Togashi makes a Tweet, it will have a release date! And of course, more details would be appreciated as well. But for now, the end of this three-year hiatus is finally in sight, and otaku have plenty of great anime to watch in the meantime.
