Killua Zoldyck is one of the main characters in Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter X Hunter series. Introduced during the Hunter Exams arc, Killua has only gone on to achieve greatness with time. Being a member of the Zoldyck family, he was blessed with immense talent, which was further brought out by the rigorous and torturous training methods that he was put through as a child.

When it comes to Nen, Killua is, once again, exceptional and according to Bisky, is a one-in-a-million prodigy. He is a transmutation type of Nen user, meaning that he can change the properties of his aura entirely. In his case, he can change his aura into electricity which has been seen on quite a lot of occasions in the story already. Although Killua's abilities as a user of nen have not peaked just yet, he has developed some incredibly powerful techniques already, some of which are strong enough to defeat even elite nen users. One such technique, which is also his strongest right now, is called Godspeed. Debuting in the Chimera Ant arc, this technique has gone on to become one of the most iconic ones in Hunter x Hunter, however, how strong is Killua's Godspeed, really?

What Is Killua's Godspeed?

Being a transmutation type Nen user, Killua came up with the ability to transmute his nen aura into electricity upon learning this skill. As a child, he was put through quite a lot of torturous training by the Zoldyck family members to make him stronger as an assassin, and some of them included surviving high-voltage electric shocks as well. As such, Killua has a very high resistance to electricity and his main techniques most likely stem from that. He has used electricity-based techniques on several occasions so far and in a variety of ways, such as paralyzing his opponents and even burning them at times.

During the Chimera Ant arc, fans got to see the peak of his nen abilities via a technique he called Godspeed. To understand Godspeed, one would need to understand the very basics it stems from. Godspeed is essentially a combination of two major nen abilities that Killua has demonstrated in the story so far, called Whirlwind, and Speed of Lightning.

To make Godspeed work perfectly, Killua makes use of Whirlwind to boost his reaction time. While a normal human reacts to an incoming threat by perceiving it through the nerves and then sending a signal to the brain to gain instruction to act, Killua avoids this process entirely by having his aura send electrical signals to his muscles and have them act immediately. As such, his reactions become several times faster than a normal human's, establishing a basis for Godspeed to work. By training further, Killua was able to program his aura to respond to things such as contact, and even killing intent of other people.

The second technique for Godspeed to work properly is Speed of Lightning. This technique allows him to control his movements even while moving at incredibly fast speeds or using Whirlwind. When used, Killua becomes extremely fast and is able to traverse vast distances within the blink of an eye. The speed of this ability is, however, vastly dependent on the terrain, as seen when he was trying to outrun Tsubone after the Chimera Ant arc.

How Strong Is Godspeed Killua?

Over the course of time, Killua has gone from strength to strength and grown into a tremendous user of nen. Being someone with immense talent, it is no surprise that he progresses extremely fast. During the Chimera Ant arc, he went from not being powerful enough to fight against Razor to keeping up with Menthuthuyoupi, one of the Royal Guards of Meruem, in combat momentarily, which is nothing short of staggering. All this was made possible thanks to his usage of Godspeed. When using both Whirlwind and Speed of Lightning at the same time, Killua is able to attain Godspeed – a form that is currently known to be his peak. When using this power, he is always able to produce electricity from his body and shock anyone he faces in combat. The intensity of the shock can be completely controlled by him and while sometimes it feels like a mild shock that fazes those around him, at others, it can completely paralyze others and even burn them with high-voltage current.

The biggest testament to Godspeed Killua is that he was able to fight Menthuthuyoupi for a short period of time in the Chimera Ant arc using this technique. While utilizing Godspeed, Killua was able to completely evade all his attacks, thanks to the heightened perception of Whirlwind, and then make use of the blinding speed offered by Speed of Lightning to land powerful blows on him.

he electrical discharge that Killua produced was certainly not enough to take down Youpi, however, it did cause him problems to a point where he got immensely frustrated and even momentarily paralyzed. That said, Killua's Godspeed still needs a lot of work. While this technique is certainly very impressive, Killua is still not able to generate extremely high-voltage electricity just yet. He has himself admitted to the fact that he needs a stronger current. Furthermore, this technique runs out rather quickly so for him to get stronger, he certainly needs to learn how to stabilize it better as well. In time, Killua will certainly pull that off and make Godspeed even stronger.
