PVE is an important aspect of Hunt: Showdown. Enemies can pose as much of a threat as hunters if players are unsure how to take them down. Even grunts can be a danger in the first few minutes of a game. With the proper strategies, no hunter should be killed by a monster.

However, there are also consequences for drawing too much attention while eliminating the creatures that roam the map. Sometimes, people will have no choice but to use excessive force to ensure survival. With the tips below, hunters will have a better chance of survival in Hunt: Showdown.

Grunts

Grunts are the weakest enemies in the game. Pretty much every Hunt weapon will kill them with just one hit. Instead of using weapons that create a lot of noise, knives and dusters are the best options to take them down. Killing a Grunt with melee weapons will still produce noise, but magnitudes less than any gun in Hunt.

To maintain silence while efficiently killing these adds, those two weapons are preferable. The creatures may have torches or cleavers, so make sure to take them down quickly. Shutting a door on them or mantling an object will buy hunters a few seconds to regain their stamina.

Hives

The next set of enemies will require a little more firepower. Hives send out a swarm that will follow a character for a great distance, causing a poisoning effect. When one of these is spotted, the best course of action is to maintain distance, but stand your ground. Once the Hive is dead, the swarm will disappear. With bullets, fire, or throwing knives, Hives can be killed relatively quickly. Their heads are actually off to the side, not the nest. Hitting the head will deal more damage, and kill the monster faster.

Meatheads

hunt meathead

As the name suggests, Meatheads are the tankiest standard enemies in Hunt. They have a huge health bar and are only susceptible to poison damage. These guys should probably be left alone if possible. It will take a lot of ammo and generate far too much noise to kill them. Unless teams have Crossbows across the board, fighting one is not worth the risk. Aiming at the upper chest right below where the neck would cause critical damage.

Armoureds

hunt armoured

Armoureds are resistant to gunfire, so using guns is the worst way to fight them. Knives and fire do a lot more damage on the enemy, and produce a lot less noise. It will only take three hits with a knife to kill them, and a bayonet will eliminate them with just two blows. Lanterns and Flare Guns work just as well. Additionally, Flare Guns will protect players from the Armoureds'  devastating melee attacks.

Hellhounds

hunt hellhound

Hellhounds travel in packs and can be killed with a gun or knife. Heavy knife attacks take them out in one slash, and a bullet to the head will eliminate them as well. The hounds inflict low damage, but can be overwhelming if all of them attack at once. They also have a long aggro radius, and usually cannot be avoided. If the creatures have masks on, hunters must shoot at their bodies to cause damage.

Immolators

hunt immolator

Despite their appearance, Immolators are powerful monsters. They have a lot of health and will spot hunters from quite far away. The skeletal creatures move fast and deal high damage too. For stamina purposes, the Duster is the ideal weapon for dropping Immolators. Using the back of a gun will work as well, staggering the creature slightly after each hit.

Water Devils

These river monsters guard many of the water passages on the maps. If one is spotted, it is usually a good idea to cross elsewhere. That being said, a few bullets or a couple of throwing knives will clear the path across the river. As soon as they go down, cross immediately. After just a few seconds, a new Water Devil will spawn in the same location.

Bosses

There are several different bosses which present their own unique characteristics. Covering them all in detail would take ages, but there are a few tips for each that should be mentioned briefly. Gamers will now be able to fight Scrapbreak, the new boss added in the As The Crow Flies update.

  • Spider: Attack when it screeches and pounces. Lanterns and bullets deal the most damage.
  • Butcher: Use guns and poison. Fire at his open wound and flee while reloading.
  • Assassin: Lay down fire into its chest or throw a lantern when it is in human form. Wait for the swarms to de-spawn before attacking again.
  • Scrapbreak: Melee weapons work, but using bullets is faster. Watch out for the explosives he throws near entrances.

In general, the bosses can be defeated swiftly with bullets, although melee weapons work for most of them. With a team, each of these bosses are simple to defeat with a concerted strategy.
