There's a lot to discover for players when trekking through Hunt: Showdown. The Louisana-based first-person shooter is home to all kinds of mythical creatures and monsters, though the most recent addition may come as a surprise. The recently released DLC, The Beast Hunter, adds the home of the intimidating ogre Shrek.

Frequent Hunt: Showdown players are already accustomed to the supernatural world they live in. As bounty hunters, players are tasked with finding the lair of powerful monsters, hunting them, and collecting their bounty. With environmental dangers and smaller monsters sprinkled throughout, the addition of an ogre is likely nothing strange. However, few would expect that Crytek would imply the presence of Shrek himself in the western fantasy shooter.

Crytek added DeSalle, a new map as part of The Beast Hunter DLC. As revealed by Twitter user and YouTuber JackFrags, the developers included Shrek's house as an Easter egg. Located at the bottom left of the map, JackFrags navigated through an opening between two large boulders. The opening leads to a clearing containing Shrek's home.

It's not a 1-1 adaption of the ogre's home, but it comes close. Compared to the original house, Shrek's house in Hunt: Showdown still has a huge tree trunk and green grass on the roof. To add, the shack has a table and chair out front, and the area even includes Shrek's toilet on the left side up some stairs.

Thankfully, players won't need to worry about getting out of Shrek's swamp. Despite his home being a clear establishment on the map, the ogre himself is nowhere to be found. Chances are he's on vacation with his family or busy somewhere else, although that's not a bad thing. Shrek was at one point a powerful threat in his own right, and would no doubt give Hunt: Showdown players quite the struggle if challenged.

Shrek's house aside, the map itself is the first new Hunt: Showdown map in three years, and not long before that was the addition of the new Scrapbeak boss. There's no telling if Crytek might be teasing a future limited-time crossover, though the Easter egg is pretty cool to discover. It would seem that Crytek is doing a lot to not only respond to feedback from the community but also having a little fun in the process.

Hunt: Showdown is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
