Crytek's Hunt: Showdown continues to evolve. With the relatively small update 1.4.9 of Hunt: Showdown having been released recently, much larger things are right around the corner. In fact, Crytek has been laying bread crumbs of what players can expect with the next update. The roadmap for Hunt: Showdown has long detailed the idea of custom ammunition, and now it seems as if that implementation in-game will arrive very soon.

Recently Crytek majorly teased colorful and custom ammo in Hunt: Showdown. The following days--and even weeks--have been filled with multiple tweets showcasing exactly what the new ammo will look like in-game. Players have a lot to look forward to.

The first new ammo type Crytek mentioned in a tweet is Full Metal Jacket, which looks to increase bullet penetration power at the expense of muzzle speed. The next mentioned addition is Dragonbreath, a shell that works on shotguns and ignites on impact.

Another addition includes the Incendiary Bullet, which again ignites on impact but also has a small tracer attached. Hunt: Showdown is certainly a game with stealth elements, so bullets that make it obvious where the person is firing from would be considered a weakness. There is also a poison bullet that releases a toxic agent on impact, but it has reduced stopping power.

Flechette shells can cause bleeding damage, which can be an interesting choice for shotguns. Meanwhile, Penny Shots coins can replace shot pellets for shotguns, but they would be less reliable but more powerful.

Update 1.5 for Hunt: Showdown has been teased and highly anticipated for quite some time. In fact, 2021 may have massive changes. Crytek has promised a new map, a new boss, gameplay changes, and now these custom ammo changes that may be entirely gameplay altering. The good thing is that each ammo type seems to have a pro and a con, so hopefully, none of them are overpowered.

Hunt: Showdown is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
