Xbox Games Studio Double Fine was a major part of Microsoft's Xbox Series X showcase earlier this month thanks to a psychedelic Psychonauts 2 trailer starring Jack Black, which happened to confirm the long-anticipated game has been delayed once again. The developer has a 20-year history leading up to Psychonauts 2, and digital storefront Humble Bundle is celebrating that anniversary through a charity bundle stuffed with games.
The bundle, which primarily supports the disability advocate-focused SpecialEffect and summer camp program Girls Make Games, offers five titles for anyone who pays just $1 — including the original Psychonauts. Paying more than the average $8.60 nets six more games including Brutal Legend and Day of the Tentacle Remastered, while paying more than $9 unlocks 12 additional titles including Gang Beasts and Grim Fandango Remastered.
Anyone who buys the Double Fine Humble Bundle will also get seven soundtracks, and those who pay more than $9 can get one month's access to Humble Choice, the platform's monthly subscription service, if they are a new member. Remastered classic point-and-click adventure games like Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle were also announced for Xbox One after Double Fine was acquired by Microsoft in 2019.
Frequently releasing collections of games that support any number of charitable causes is just one way Humble Bundle has chosen to give back to important programs through video gaming. In June, Humble Bundle created a $1 million Black Game Developer Fund meant to help publish titles by Black developers in the wake of worldwide protests following the widely-publicized deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and others.
The individual bundles being offered by the storefront are also often focused on benefitting charities involved with world crises and similar events, such as the Australian wildfires that ravaged the continent last year. One of its biggest efforts as of late was a COVID-19 relief bundle with over $1,000 worth of content that cost just $30, though it went on to receive donations as high as $10,000.
This particular bundle of games advertised on Twitter today is worth over $300 according to Humble Bundle, and at least 15,000 collections have already been sold as of this writing — a testament to Double Fine's popularity as a developer, particularly in the realm of its older point-and-click adventure games. It will only be available until about mid-August, so anyone who is interested in getting their hands on the 20th anniversary Humble Bundle should act quickly.
