To set up the Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch OLED, follow these simple instructions:

  1. After unboxing the console, press and hold the power button.

  2. Once the Nintendo Switch is on, attach the joy-cons on the sides.
  3. The Nintendo Switch logo will appear.
  4. Once the console has booted up, select a language from the options provided.
  5. On the next screen, select a region.
  6. On the End-User License Agreement screen, mark the Accept box and select Next.
  7. On the Internet Settings screen, select a Wi-Fi network.
  8. Enter the password and wait for the console to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
  9. Once successfully connected, select OK.
  10. On the Time Zone screen, select the appropriate time zone.
  11. The user will be asked to connect to a TV on the next screen.

  13. Select Success by pressing the A button on the joy-con.
  14. On the Add User screen, select Next.

  16. Select an icon and enter a nickname for the user. Select OK.
  17. Users will get the option to Link a Nintendo Account. If the user has a Nintendo Account, they should sign in; if not, they should select Later.
  18. Select Configure Parental Controls or Skip on the To Parents and Guardians screen.
  19. Press the Home button to complete the Setup process.

Setting up a Nintendo Switch Lite is not different from setting up a Nintendo Switch or Switch OLED console, but the setup process varies a bit since the console cannot be connected to a TV. Additionally, the Nintendo Switch Lite does not have detachable joy-cons, meaning the process must be completed in handheld mode from start to finish.
