It's been over a decade since the last numbered entry in the long-running Devil May Cry series hit store shelves. After a surprise announcement at Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference, Devil May Cry 5 is now only a couple months away and new information continues to be revealed. Already, fans have seen a number of new features like live-action cutscenes that will be packaged in with the deluxe edition thanks in large part to the Dev Notes event on Twitter, but now, fans also have a good sense as to how long the single player campaign will last.

Speaking at a recent question and answer session in Seoul, South Korea, Devil May Cry 5 director Hideaki Itsuno was asked how long this latest game would take an average player to complete. Based on internal playthroughs and testing done at Capcom, Itsuno confirmed that they expect the campaign to last around 15 hours in total. Though with other modes and features to check out such as The Void and Cameo, the experience can last much longer.

If the statement is accurate, this would easily make Devil May Cry 5 the longest game in the franchise. Previous games in the franchise have typically stayed around the 10 hours or less mark, which is normal for most action games, but with Devil May Cry 5 and its three protagonists, it's clear that Capcom needed a bit more time to tell the full story. Fans will get a taste of that story in February, as Capcom has confirmed that a new demo will arrive next month.

Once the game launches in March, it appears that Capcom may have more plans post-launch. Based on player feedback, Itsuno revealed that the studio wouldn't be opposed to adding more playable characters in addition to the current trio of Nero, Dante, and V. Fans have already seen Trish and Lady through previous trailers which makes them great candidates to become playable, though the yet to be revealed Vergil is also a character that's likely high on most fans' wishlists.

Devil May Cry 5 launches on March 8, 2019 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
