It's close to that special time of year for gamers and the industry at large, as numerous conferences and showcases will be hitting screens this summer. Even though E3 2022 is cancelled, the likes of QuakeCon, the PC Gaming Show, and the Xbox and Bethesda Game Studios Showcase are all still going ahead, giving fans and industry types the opportunity to see what's happening in the world of gaming. On top of that, Ebb Software has just unveiled a very short teaser for its upcoming horror game Scorn. The developers of the H.R. Giger-inspired title uploaded a seven-second clip to the Scorn website, which shows a glimpse into what the game currently looks like. This was posted shortly after the announcement about the Xbox and Bethesda Game Studios 2022 Showcase, which takes place on June 12. It's perhaps likely, therefore, that the studio will be demonstrating or showing off some more of its game during that online event.RELATED: Scorn Developer Apologizes For 'Hostile Outburst' Over DelaysNot long ago, Scorn also released some creepy new gameplay videos, which were again quite short. One of them, simply titled "Puzzle," shows the player inserting what may well be some sort of key into a slot, and then a series of alien-esque mechanisms begin to spin round until a correct pattern forms. There was also a "Machinery" clip, which really shows off the aesthetic of the game.

For those who are unaware, the game has been in development for years and was first announced in 2014. As well as being inspired by the work of the Alien artist, it's also said to build its world around the work of the Polish painter Zdzisław Beksiński. Despite some fans becoming irate over the delays, Scorn will be coming to Xbox Series X and PC this year, and according to the studio, it will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.

Scorn was considered one of the most anticipated horror games of 2021, along with the likes of Resident Evil Village and Back 4 Blood, but was eventually pushed back. Having spent almost eight years in development, fans have been waiting a long time for the game to finally drop. The teasers and short trailers that have surfaced recently do make it look like it's going to be quite an interesting horror entry.

Scorn is scheduled to release in October 2022 and is currently in development for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
