Launching as a PS4 exclusive in 2017, Guerrilla Games' hit original IP Horizon Zero Dawn is now expanding to the PC platform. After waiting three years, PC players will finally be able to experience the stunning open-world adventure on August 7 when the Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store. As the game is now available for pre-order, players can also view the system requirements to evaluate whether their PCs are up to the task.

It has been confirmed that the PC edition of Horizon Zero Dawn will include some specific upgrades for PC players to ensure the game can run effectively on computers. Features such as unlocked frame rates, graphical customization and controller options will be included on the PC version allowing players to fully load out their experience to their liking. The PC release will also be the complete edition of Horizon Zero Dawn and will include the Frozen Wilds story expansion and all the other DLC launch content in one purchase.

A desktop with more capable hardware and processing power will likely get the most benefit from the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn. The game already pushed the limits on the PS4 Pro, so users wishing to get the same visual experience in Horizon Zero Dawn on PC will probably want to run with the recommended specs and update their hardware accordingly. The PC edition also requires 100 GB of hard drive space, which is roughly double what the game needed on the PS4.

The porting of console exclusive games to PC often takes a few months or years of extra development behind the scenes. Most recently Death Stranding and Red Dead Redemption 2 got a PC edition with some hefty system requirements. Sony and PC have a long history of a cross-platform partnership, meaning many games that were once considered console exclusives, like Horizon Zero Dawn, have made their way to the desktop version, albeit after a long wait.

PlayStation fans of Horizon Zero Dawn have plenty to look forward to with the recent announcement of the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, coming to the PS5. Whether this will also make its way to PC is yet to be announced but it's likely Guerrilla Games has its hands full with the new sequel and any other versions will have to wait until after launch.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be coming to PC on August 7 and is available now on PS4.
