When it was released early last year, PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn garnered massive sales and critical success. The game has sold over 7.6 million copies and fans and critics alike praised its huge open-world, the design of its mech-dinosaur robots, its intriguing story, and its engrossing quests. Fans of developer Guerrilla Games have been eager to find out what the company is working on next and thankfully, new job listings provide some hints.

On its official website, Guerrilla Games has posted two job listings for a writer and senior writer. The hired writers must have an understanding of "drama, dialogue, and story structure" and ideally, they will have experience in incorporating this into mission and quest writing for AAA games. Guerrilla asks that the senior writer has more than four years of experience in the games industry and has shipped at least one AAA game.

While the job listings don't mention a named project, the "what you will do" section of the job listings suggest that Guerrilla Games is working on another RPG, or a game with RPG mechanics. Hired writers will "pitch compelling ideas for quests, factions, and backstories," as well as writing "quest dialogue, ambient dialogue, story outlines, and faction documents," and will "develop narrative designs for quests, gameplay activities, and game features." Plenty of linear games feature factions and backstories but the mention of quests does suggest that Guerrilla's next project offer players some choice, as an RPG would.

Fans of Horizon Zero Dawn will hope that Guerrilla is staffing up for Horizon Zero Dawn 2. The developer has revealed that there were cut storylines and areas and a follow-up game would allow the developer to revisit those nixed ideas.

Guerrilla already built upon the base game's foundations with The Frozen Wilds DLC, which was received well by players. However, another game would let the developer do that on a larger scale.

Though fans of the developer would be just as glad to know that the studio is working on a new IP. The game would give players another reason to engage with the developer's world-building talent and see what other game concepts Guerrilla put to one side to work on Horizon Zero Dawn instead. With Guerrilla only now hiring writers for the project, fans probably won't hear about the new game for awhile, but they will be very excited in the meantime.

Horizon Zero Dawn is out now for PS4.
