Titan Comics just announced a collaboration with Guerrilla Games that will create a new comic series based on Horizon Zero Dawn. Fans of the game can expect the first issue of the comic to release on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, with a prequel arriving sometime sooner during a currently unscheduled Free Comic Book Day event.

The comic will feature illustrations by Ann Maulina and writing by Anne Toole -- one of the writers that worked on the scenario of the original game. The name of the comic will simply be "Horizon Zero Dawn," and its story will take place after the ending events of the original game.

The comic's plot will center around both Aloy -- the main character -- and Talanah Khane Padish -- the Sunhawk (leader) of the Carja Hunters Lodge. After Aloy's "disappearance" at the end of Horizon Zero Dawn, Talanah sets out to investigate a mysterious new threat in the wilds and uncovers an all-new breed of killer machines.

There's no confirmation, but since this new comic takes place after the original game's events, it may very well function as a prologue to the yet unannounced Horizon Zero Dawn sequel.

Horizon Zero Dawn is out now for the PS4 and releases for PC in summer 2020.
