After a longer than expected wait, Horizon: Zero Dawn, the newest IP Guerrilla Games is now less than a week away from release. To celebrate and to continued building hype, Sony has released the launch trailer for the open world game showing off more exciting gameplay while highlighting the many positive reviews it has recently garnered.

In addition to all of the glowing critical reviews, Horizon: Zero Dawn players can see more of the varied landscapes of the open world from lush jungles, to broken cities now reclaimed by nature. The robotic creatures such as the Thunderjaw and Snapmaw also take center stage as they look to take out the main protagonist Aloy.

It's worth noting that the impressive footage captured in this accolades trailer comes from a PlayStation 4 Pro and not a standard PS4 console. Thanks to a recent comparison video, fans now have a good idea of how much better the game looks on a PS4 Pro console, even if a 4K enabled TV isn't being used. Thanks to being developed with this updated console in mind, Guerrilla Games was able to utilize a number of techniques to push the limits including a 2160p checkerboard style rendering technique which delivers as close to 4K resolution as possible.

With predictions estimating that Horizon: Zero Dawn will sell around 8 million copies through its lifetime, there's an understandable level of excitement from Sony over its newest IP. The company has already started discussing this IP as franchise potential thanks to the high quality of the product along with the positive reception from the public. Even though the game isn't yet on store shelves, Guerrilla Games has already started charting out possible future story lines for the franchise including the possibility of exploring other characters as protagonists from the world's rich history.
