One of PlayStation's biggest exclusives of the year, Horizon Forbidden West, has just been released, and like all releases, it's stirring up some controversy. While there have been manufactured controversies from a vocal minority of the internet, there's also some real issues hitting Horizon Forbidden West. Luckily, developer Guerrilla Games is working to address one of the biggest ones currently facing Forbidden West, even calling it a "high priority."

Over on Reddit, an official thread from u/Guerrilla_Chante confirmed that Guerrilla Games is aware of a visual glitch that's affecting some users, and that a fix is being worked on. Unfortunately, the post doesn't have much more to offer than that, simply asking players to report any issues as they encounter them by capturing clips of the issue. A pinned comment on the post links to a thread describing how to report issues.

The visual glitch seems to be affecting Horizon Forbidden West's performance mode, as users report issues with its sharpness settings, saturation, and artifacts muddying images. Some players are also reporting a shimmering effect. A comment from a Guerrilla developer on one thread states that the issue has been resolved, but some users are still reporting that they've encountered the problem. According to most fans on the threads, the hotfix patch has not corrected the issue.

The visual issues seem to be affecting OLED TVs, in particular. Players are reporting severe issues with brightness in outdoor environments while playing on an OLED TV, which haven't successfully been rectified by adjusting settings. Some players believe that the issues stem from how Horizon Forbidden West handles HDR. It's unclear if that's accurate, however, and players likely won't know for sure until Guerrilla Games details what happened.

Elsewhere, users have reported some problems with Horizon Forbidden West's audio mixing, stating that they had to disable 3D audio for the sounds to be crisp through headphones. Guerrilla Games doesn't seem to have acknowledged the problem in either of the currently circulating Reddit threads, but it will likely also be addressed if enough people chime in about it.

While it's been a hit critically, Horizon Forbidden West is being review bombed, which makes it difficult to gauge how fans are feeling about it outside a coordinated negative movement. It's clear that there are at least some significant issues that need to be addressed, and hopefully, Guerrilla will be able to sort them out sooner rather than later.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now for PS4 and PS5.
