Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to 2018's Horizon Zero Dawn. Returning fans to the story of Aloy, the second game of the franchise has made some major improvements over its predecessor. From a map map filled with more machines to fight to new characters in the story of Horizon Forbidden West, there have been a lot of big changes to the overall experience. Smaller things have also been added to Horizon Forbidden West, such as a glider and grapple mechanics, and there are also new side activities like racing.

A race in Horizon Forbidden West plays somewhat similarly to the horse racing in The Witcher 3. The player rides their Strider over a track, reaching checkpoints until they cross the finish line. This may sound straightforward at first. However, there are some extra mechanics that make Horizon Forbidden West's races a little different. The opponent can be knocked from their mount, for example, and the player can whip their own Strider into moving faster.

There are also problems in Horizon Forbidden West's races that certainly weren't intended by the developers. As shown in a clip on Reddit, a race was going well when their opponent shoves the player into a wall and causes Aloy on her mount to fall through the map. This results in the player falling endlessly through the world while the game tells them to get back on the racetrack.

This moment was seen as frustrating both by the player and those in the Reddit comments. One reader tried to look on the brighter side of things and stated that, while glitching into a loss is annoying, the new dialogue available in Horizon Forbidden West after completing the races is worth it. Others had seen more videos like the one posted by the player of Aloy disappearing into the world, which seems to be somewhat of a common occurrence in Horizon Forbidden West.

While some players have grown slightly frustrated from encountering glitches in Horizon Forbidden West, many are still enjoying the game and all that it offers. It has certainly proven to be a popular exclusive from Sony, and the company recently unveiled its first official PS5 bundle that includes a copy of Horizon Forbidden West. For many, this is just the start of a great year for PS5 exclusives, as Horizon Forbidden West is likely to be joined by God of War Ragnarok later in 2022.

Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
