Compared to most other modern video games, unlocking the Platinum trophy in Horizon Forbidden West is actually a relatively simple task. Most of the trophies will unlock naturally as players make their way through the game, while others require only partial completion rather than 100%. As such, players can expect a relatively straightforward ride.
That said, there are one or two difficult trophies in Horizon Forbidden West, as well as a lot of additional content that can easily distract players from their goal. Understanding which side quests and errands actually need to be completed can save players a lot of time and effort, while knowing where to look for the necessary collectibles can also be a big help. There's also one missable trophy, so players will need to remain on their toes as they approach the end of the game.
Updated April 22, 2023, by Tom Bowen: Horizon Forbidden West has received fairly regular updates since releasing in early 2022, though none have been quite as significant as The Burning Shores. Released just a little over one year on from the base version of the game, the DLC expansion brings with it a brand new storyline, new side quests, and a whole host of other puzzles and collectible sets. Naturally, this also means more Trophies for players to unlock, with 18 available in total. Together with the ones found in the base version of the game and those added in the New Game+ update, this brings the total number of trophies in Horizon Forbidden West up to 80, which is considerably more than most other first-party PlayStation games. This Trophy guide will explain how to unlock every trophy in Horizon Forbidden West, with links to more thorough wherever needed.

All Machine Types Scanned Silver |

Unlocked after scanning all 43 types of machines. From top left to bottom right on the list of machines in Aloy's notebook, these are Grazer, Burrower, Scrounger, Leaplasher, Scrapper, Spikesnout, Skydrifter, Plowhorn, Charger, Lancehorn, Longleg, Bristleback, Fanghorn, Redeye Watcher, Widemaw, Clawstrider, Corruptor, Bellowback, Glinthawk, Shell-Walker, Stalker, Grimhorn, Ravager, Snapmaw, Sunwing, Clamberjaw, Rollerback, Rockbreaker, Behemoth, Dreadwing, Tideripper, Shellsnapper, Stormbird, Thunderjaw, Frostclaw, Scorcher, Slitherfang, Tremortusk, Fireclaw, Slaughterspine, Tallneck, Specter, and Specter Prime. As neither Specters nor Specter Prime can be found outside of main story missions, this trophy is missable, so players should make sure to scan these enemies while they have the chance. If they die during the final battle, they'll need to scan Specter Prime again before defeating it or risk missing out on the trophy for good. |
Completed a Long Glide Bronze |
Glided uninterrupted for 60 seconds. |
Unlocked after gliding continuously for 60 seconds. There are a few spots from which players can do this, but the easiest way to unlock the trophy is to fly up really high using the flying mount and then jump off and glide back down to the ground. |

There are four available: The Way Home (unlocked in Legacy's Landfall), First to Fly (unlocked in The Bulwark), Shining Example (unlocked in Arrowhand), and Tides of Justice (unlocked in Tide's Reach). Though some of these quests can be unlocked before players have obtained the flying mount, they won't actually be able to complete them until after they have completed the "The Wings of the Ten" main story mission. |

Horizon Forbidden West New Game+ Trophy Guide
As is the case with many of Sony's other first-party games, Horizon Forbidden West's New Game+ trophies are self-contained. This means that players won't need to unlock them to get their hands on the game's Platinum trophy. Sadly, however, those hoping to reach or hold onto 100% trophy completion will, which means at least one more complete playthrough of the game. The three trophies, which show up in their own separate tab much like a standard DLC expansion, are all relatively straightforward, though players can expect to spend around 20 hours unlocking them.

Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores Trophy Guide
The Burning Shores adds 18 new Trophies to Horizon Forbidden West in total. Sadly, despite this being a fairly substantial expansion, the DLC does not have its own Platinum Trophy, which may come as a bit of a disappointment to some Trophy hunters. The good news is that players will unlock most of these Trophies naturally as they make their way through the main story, meaning that there isn't too much grinding required. In fact, several of the Trophies can effectively be skipped, with players able to use guides to find the solutions rather than having to track down the associated collectible sets.

New skills can be easily identified by the white curly lines that surround their icons. In order for the Trophy to unlock, players will need to upgrade all six of the new Valor Surge abilities to level 3. If they don't have enough skill points to do so, they can reset their skills by pressing the options button from within the skills menu. Players will need a minimum of 171 skill points in order to unlock all of the required skills from scratch. |
Reached Level 60 Bronze |

They'll also need to scan a Bilegut, a Stingspawn, and a Waterwing, all of which will be encountered while playing through the main story. If players miss them, they can find a Waterwing site to the south of Fleet's End and two Bilegut sites on the island just east of Fleet's End, where they'll also encounter Stingspawns. |

The fastest way to unlock this is at a Bilegut site, as the Stingspawns that players encounter there can be killed with a single hit. |
Killed Bileguts and Stingspawn Bronze |
Killed 5 Bileguts and 50 Stingspawns. |
Unlocked by killing five Bileguts and 50 Stingspawns. Players will likely unlock this Trophy naturally as they make their way through the main story. If not though, they can find Bileguts and Stingspawns at the two Bilegut sites on the large island just east of Fleet's End. It's best to kill the Bileguts first, as they can potentially take out the Stingspawns with their area attacks. |
Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
