Guerrilla Games has released a lengthy behind-the-scenes trailer for Horizon: Forbidden West that showcases its cast of actors as they discuss some of the details that went in to bringing their characters to life. The trailer focuses on six actors who will be heavily featured in the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn sequel and, although it doesn't go into much detail about the story other than what's already been seen in other trailers, the seven-minute video highlights one thing that ties all the characters together: Aloy.
Reprising her role as Aloy for Horizon: Forbidden West, Ashly Burch points out some differences between working on the first game and what it's been like coming back for a sequel. Since Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2017, the industry, specifically a lot of first-party Sony titles, has taken a new approach to putting together cinematic-looking cutscenes by having actors on a stage together doing the motion capture themselves. It's easy to see when looking back at Zero Dawn and comparing many of its cutscenes to what's been shown off so far of Forbidden West the kind of difference in quality that Burch is referencing.
Also returning for Horizon: Forbidden West, Lance Reddick, John MacMillan, and John Hopkins give some insight into their characters. Reddick highlights the way that Sylens views his intelligence while both MacMillan and Hopkins discuss how their characters have grown since meeting Aloy in the first game.
Two new actors to the franchise were given the stage to talk about their characters as well: Carrie-Anne Moss as Tilda and Noshir Dalal as Kotallo. It was revealed, to much excitement, that Moss would be playing a character in Horizon: Forbidden West earlier this week, but the video gives some insight into what Moss likes about playing Tilda and working in games in general. Dalal's Kotallo seems like he might have a substantial role in the game's narrative as he reveals in the trailer that Kotallo's tribe has been split into three, some of which look to be the enemies featured in previous trailers.
So far, there have been a handful of trailers revealing more information about the game before launch, but because of a recent leak, there might be Horizon: Forbidden West story spoilers making the internet rounds. Anyone looking to avoid them might want to skip out on reading the comments below trailers until the game launches as sometimes that's where spoiler discussions can take place.
Horizon: Forbidden West launches on PS4 and PS5 on February 18.
