The team at Focus Home Interactive have been quite busy showcasing Hood: Outlaws and Legends ahead of its May 10 release date. In December of last year, the team released character trailers for Hood: Outlaws and Legends, which focused in on the different backstories and lore surrounding the game's handful of character classes.

Since then, Focus Home Interactive has released several different gameplay trailers detailing the specific abilities of each of the four playable classes. Now, the official PlayStation YouTube channel has released another Hood: Outlaws and Legends gameplay trailer, this time focusing on the tactical spellcasting Mystic class.

The Mystic class may just be one of the most unique character classes available in Hood: Outlaws and Legends thanks to his focus on spellcasting and providing various effects through those spells. In terms of raw combat ability, the Mystic is a melee fighter similar to the Brawler class. The Mystic's main weapon is a flail, which is a close range weapon capable of reaching farther out than the Brawler's hammer, but not nearly as far as the long-range classes like the Hunter and Ranger. The Mystic's heavy attack throws out his flail at an enemy, stunning them and leaving them vulnerable to killing blows from the player or their allies.

However, the Mystic differs significantly from the rest of the cast by leaning more towards support than outright combat. The Mystic has access to a variety of different spells and elemental abilities that can help allies while hindering opponents in a variety of different ways. The Mystic can equip poison grenades that slowly sap the stamina of enemies caught within the smoke, while also limiting visibility. While not as outright effective at blinding enemies compared to Hood: Outlaws and Legends' Hunter class, these poison grenades can be used in a variety of different situations depending on what players need.

The Mystic's ultimate ability, called Instinct, is perhaps one of the most supportive abilities shown off so far. This ability allows the Mystic to see enemies and objects through walls for a short period of time, making it great for players making tactical call outs during a match. Additionally, Instinct also heals the Mystic and any nearby allies caught within the range of the initial pulse, making it great to use before or during a serious fight. While Hood: Outlaws and Legends' fast-paced matches will not doubt make quick decision making hard, players who favor a more tactical approach should be able to make great use out of the Mystic class.

Additionally, the Mystic's perks allow for a variety of customization options that let players decide how they wish to support the team. For example, the Mystic can equip healing grenades instead of poison grenades, for quick use in a life-or-death situation. Alternatively, the Mystic can equip perks that convert damage into health regen or even increase movement speed while sprinting, which in turn affects allies as well. With the variety of play-styles and customization that Hood: Outlaws and Legends seems to offer up, it will no doubt be one of the biggest games in May 2021.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends releases May 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
