Hood: Outlaws & Legends is finally out and players are getting in on the medieval cooperative action. The PvPvE multiplayer game by Sumo Digital takes fans into a world of competitive heists. As such, the game has a large focus on communication and strategy to reign supreme. Keep reading this guide for Hood: Outlaws & Legends to learn how to group up with friends to play online together.

The gameplay in Hood: Outlaws & Legends combines battle against real players with AI aggressors in each match. The team must utilize combat skills and special abilities to push forward, claim the treasure, and escape with their lives. With a variety of unique classes available, the game is ripe for working with friends to dominate those solo-queuing. While the method is simple enough, there are a few obstacles fans should keep in mind before grouping up.

First off, those thinking that they can join with friends from the start will need to think again. Instead of letting new players fumble in matches, Sumo Digital built in a special tutorial to teach them the ropes. Within this portion, fans will need to go through and play as each of the four heroes in Hood: Outlaws & Legends. These currently include the Ranger, Hunter, Mystic, and Brawler so it should not take too long to finish this.

How to Play With Friends in Hood: Outlaws and Legends

Now that the tutorial is complete, it is time to connect with friends and invite them to the lobby. Head over to the hideout option in the game to start sending out invites and playing with friends. Let any objectives or post-round celebrations play out before looking for the invite feature. Bring up the start menu and pan down to the bottom right corner where the option is located. Simply use the key prompt that is shown there to start inviting friends for some medieval heist action.

There is one caveat to sending invitations in Sumo Digital's multiplayer title. Upon using the invite feature, players will notice that the only choices available will be those who are playing the game on the same platform. Cross-play in Hood: Outlaws & Legends is a bit fickle in its current state, and there are limits for shooting out invites to friends on other devices.

If playing on Xbox or PC, there is an option to join up with other players using Microsoft accounts. However, PlayStation players will only be able to connect up with allies who are also on Sony's flagship console.

Interestingly enough, once in the match, cross play functions correctly. Therefore, players on different devices can get matched up with their friends on other platforms although this is fairly unlikely to occur. Since this option is available for matchmaking, there could be a chance that full cross play will come along sometime during the Year 1 DLC. But for now, just use the built-in invite feature to play with friends in Hood: Outlaws & Legends.

Hood: Outlaws & Legends is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
